Starved Rock is a state park that apart from everything and one of the most beautiful place in Illinois. It is located at South-West from the city and only 2 hours drive away from the city. It is free for entrance and parking. The trails are not too hard for hiking beginners or families.

Winter 冬天
I went there last year in January, right after heavy snow. I felt totally different compare to other seasons. Everything is covered by snow and looks amazing. The place looks very mysterious and I felt like I went into the scene in "Unitl Dawn" (a PlayStation 4 game).我去年選擇了冬天下雪時候去。感覺跟其他季節很不一樣，所有地方都給白雪覆蓋。好像進入了Until Dawn的遊戲世界裏面。
What am I wear?
Obviously, the temperature would be very low during Winter. I was wearing a Columbia down jacket with 2 to 3 layers inside and two pants for resisting the wind. Also, I highly recommend to wear a snow boots. If not, a water proof boots would be a must. I was wearing a classic UGG boots with 8" height. The trails are covered by snow and kind of slippery for me.我穿了Columbia羽絨外套，裡面有2到3層衣服，兩條褲子預防風吹。然後，一定要穿靴子、防水的。因為走在雪上，雪會跑進去鞋子裏。最好是Snow boots，路上會滑。可是我當天穿UGG，小心走還是可以。
Hotel I booked?
I booked the rooms in Starved Rock Lodge, like $110 per night. They have cabins as well, but I picked the rooms because it would be on site and easier to access the facilities and restaurant. They have swimming pool, sauna, steam room, etc.當天晚上，我們訂了Starved Rock Lodge的房間，大概$110一個晚上。很有大自然、木屋的感覺。它設備很整全，有游泳池，桑拿浴室，蒸汽浴室等等。因為冬天，人很少，很舒服，真正感受到遠離市中心的繁忙和壓力。
Eat?
You don't need to bring any food or worry about what to eat. The restaurant at the lodge was very good with fair price. They had different menu with Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. 😂到那邊住不用擔心沒東西吃~ 在酒店的餐廳食物都很好吃，價錢不貴，早餐，午餐和晚餐的菜單都不同~
第一天，我們約3點到，因為冬天日落時間早，4到5點盲會下山。所以我們把行李放好，在附近走走，就去吃東西。
The next day, we woke up at around 5am for the sunrise.
第二天早上5點，我們就起來去看日出。

State Park面積不大, 不會太難走, 一天就足夠。 很適合一家大小。下面是state park map的連結。
We started our walk from the visitor center to Sandstone Point, which is around Lonetree Canyon, along the Illinois River. On the way, you must stop by Lover's Leap and Eagle Cliff for some pictures of the dam.
我們從visitor center向Sandstone Point方向走，沿著伊利諾伊河，欣賞河流的風景。途中會經過Lover's Leap和Eagle Cliff。一定要停下來拍照，風景都很美哦😊
Until we reached Lonetree Canyon, we returned and went back to the visitor center. We went toward the direction of French Canyon and took the trails inside, instead of along the river again.
當走到Lonetree Canyon，我們就走里面的路回去visitor center。向French Canyon方向走，就不用走同一條路。
Spring 春天
This year, the beginning of April, we went to Starved Rock again for the sight of Spring. It was kept raining in those days. So we were able to see the waterfall, most of the time it was lack of water.
今年4月初，我們再去Starved Rock State Park，看看春天的景象。那些日子一直在下雨，因此我們可以看到有水的瀑布。
We walked the same path as before and the sight was totally different compared to Winter.
Chicago is not a place for just shopping and night life. No matter you live or travel here. It is totally worth to visit Starved Rock State Park.
芝加哥不只是購物和夜生活的地方。無論你住在這裡還是在這裡旅行，Starved Rock State Park還是很值得去走一走，感受一下大自然的地方。
